Officially operated in 1994, being the oldest course, Song Be Golf Resort is awarded as Vietnam’s first Championship Golf Course meeting International Standard. It is first designed with two main 9-hole courses which are Lotus Course and Palm Course. In 2007, to meet the high demand of golfers coming to Song Be Golf Resort, Desert Course was built, being the most challenging of them all. This third course makes the site reach a total length of over 6000 yards, featuring 27 holes par-72 with distinctive uniqueness and challenges at each hole.
The whole course is covered with numerous lakes, natural bushes, and also large undulating greens. When it comes to landscape, it is exciting to explore each course as the three courses distinguish different natural features.
First, Lotus Course deserves to be called the hidden gem with the lotus lake providing a stunning backdrop but also a challenge for golfers. Here, you will find it not only peaceful to have a round on Lotus Course but also exciting when you conquer its varying slopes, strategically placed bunkers, and scenic lakes.
Second, Palm Course features lines of palm trees, bushes, and narrow fairways. Come to this course, you will find yourself immersed in tropical nature while enjoying your round at the most attractive holes ever. Lastly, Desert Course brings the true challenge to even the professional. Besides the stunning scenery, the course features more long and narrow fairways, bunker complexes, and an abundance of sand. At this course, you need more accuracy and calculation to defeat this “Most Unique Golf Course”.
The 1st hole is a slightly downhill par-5, over a valley protected by two bunkers and a pond on the right. The putting green is placed a little angled to the left with two bunkers guarded on both sides.
Then, the 2nd par-4 hole is a long gentle dogleg that has a new bunker placed on the left. The challenge at this hole is the enlarged greenside bunker on the left waiting to catch wayward shots.
Next, the 3rd hole is also a par-4 dogleg to the right with a lake running along on the right side. There are two giant bunkers on the left side making it a challenging driving hole.
At hole 4th, the fairway is guarded by two bunkers on both sides along the tree line and the left-side OB. There’s also a pond on the right of the fairway near the green side area.
With its tee-ing off area surrounded by a stunning lake, the 7th hole is a scenic par 4 for golfers to enjoy their shot. The green is well flanked by bunkers on both front sides.
Lastly, ending with a par 3 9th hole with menacing water in front and protected by bunkers on both sides. Also, depending on the wind, this hole can require a high degree of accuracy shot to avoid the bunkers.
The 1st hole on this course is an L-shape dogleg par 4 requires a well-calculated drive over the lake. All sides of the green are well guarded by grass bunkers. To get a clear view of the green, play to the right over the water hazards.
Then, Palm 4th is a dogleg par-5 to the left with the green being guarded by a line of trees on the left and bunkers on the right of the green. At this hole, long hitters are favored to go for the green regardless of the narrow fairway and OB line on the left.
Probably Palm 6th hole is the most difficult for this course. Water hazards, OB along a line of bamboo trees, and a narrow fairway are trickily featured at this hole, not to mention the waste area on the right.
Next, a challenging par-3 with a sharply sloping green on almost all sides is what to describe hole 8th. The tee box was placed higher than the green requiring a straight drive to cross the lake. Moreover, the wind flows may somehow obstruct your ball flight at this hole.
A tough ending of this course with a double dogleg par 5, requiring the tee-off shot to land beside the three bunkers on the right of the fairway. Additionally, bunkers are placed around to protect the green, and also a line of trees in the front does the same duty on the right side of the green.
Starting with the 1st hole which includes segmented fairway portions surrounded by waste areas. The 3rd hole features the fairway runs along the lake with a long narrow bunker that travels along in between. The 5th hole is a par-5 with the fairway and green looking like the islands surrounded by waste areas. The big lake is located on the side of the fairway and green towards the right.
Golfers will then find the true “desert” effect here on the 6th hole. The fairway is much lower than the tee box and is surrounded by large mounds making it look like a desert valley. You next go to the par-4 hole 8th with a moderately downhill tee shot. The fairway is bordered by waste areas and a small lake on the left. The green is elevated and flanked by a rocky outcrop, making it challenging for golfers to approach.
Although being the newborn among the three, besides the title “Most Unique Golf Course design”, the 9th hole on this course has recently been voted as “Best Par 5 Hole in Vietnam”.
